Zabaan Writers’ Collective aims to promote writers across South Asia, as well as globally. The organisation is working towards maintaining a circuit of interactive learning programs such as fiction writing/poetry workshops, writers’ meetups, dramatic readings, and book discussions.
Our online literary journal, Zabaan: A Journal of Art and Literature, is our flagship project. It publishes fiction, poetry, translations, essays, and interviews, both by new and established writers.
In its first year, the Zabaan Journal has published several young poets and writers from Pakistan and India, thus successfully forging creative connections between our team and our authors that transcends our existing publisher-author relationships.
The Zabaan Journal has also published Urdu translations of the renowned English-language poet from India, Bina Sarkar Ellias, translated by our founding member, and poet and author, Asad Alvi. Our other authors include Pushcart Prize nominees Sophiya Pandeya and Mitchell Krockmalnik Grabois.
